Opportunity:

The Commercial Sourcing Advisor’s primary responsibility is to support the development, management, and execution of strategic sourcing initiatives. This is done by managing assigned categories of spend and executing strategic initiatives/projects with the category to deliver bottom-line cost savings. The successful candidate should be a self-starter, able to conduct market analysis, analyze proposals using a total cost of ownership methodology, and establish strategic business relationships with key suppliers. The ideal candidate would be able to thrive in a dynamic environment where needs are both planned and unplanned. This role supports the Gathering and Processing organization within MPLX, MPC’s sponsored master limited partnership. MPLX transports, stores, distributes, and markets crude oil and refined products via refining logistics assets, pipelines, terminals, towboats, and barges; gather, process and transport natural gas; and gather, transport, fractionate, store and market natural gas liquids.

What You'll Do - Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Sourcing:

  • Develop strategic strategies for assigned material and/or service categories of spend.

  • Build and maintain relationships with key 3rd party vendors and ensure service, commercial terms, and performance optimization while fostering innovation and collaboration.

  • Develop and implement of MPLX sourcing strategies, including project charters and decision summaries based on sourcing event and negotiations outcomes.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (engineering, design, manufacturing) to ensure category strategies align with business needs.

  • Market and Industry Analysis:

  • Analyze and interpret data for use in decision-making and actions in support of business strategy, including TCO and should cost modeling.

  • Performs root cause analysis related to supply challenges or disruptions.

  • Stays current on industry trends, market conditions, and commodity pricing to inform sourcing decisions.

  • Negotiations:

  • Leads the preparation and negotiation of terms and conditions related to pricing, service levels, and commercial terms.

  • Manages related rate sheets and ensures cost competitiveness across vendor categories within the enterprise and across the industry.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration and Communication:

  • Clearly and succinctly conveys information to individuals or groups in a compelling and focused way to foster engagement.

  • Promotes inclusivity and ownership across business units to help achieve collective goals.

  • Leverages others’ skills and gains support while asking for ideas and participation when solving problems, making decisions, and carrying out plans.

  • Leads without authority, inspiring others through expertise and strong communication, while earning trust and buy-in.

  • Relationship Management:

  • Facilitates issue resolution related to supplier performance, developing awareness of associated operating risks, and qualifying contractors to assure appropriate criteria are adequately addressed.

  • Develops and maintains relationships with key 3rd party vendors to ensure service, commercial terms, and optimal leverage. As needed, develop and track KPIs for measuring performance for key vendors.

  • Value Creation:

  • Actively seek and identify opportunities for value creation (cost savings, cost avoidance, revenue enhancement) and risk reduction. Develop and execute cost savings and strategic sourcing projects while ensuring business continuity and high level of supplier performance. Manage assigned business unit(s) to optimize the supply base and deliver financial benefit. Collaborates with and supports the Category Managers regarding key supplier initiatives.

    Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Marketing, Business, Science or related field preferred.

  • 6 or more years of related experience as a supply chain professional in capacities such as, strategic sourcing, supply chain management, commercial advisory, contract administration, contract development, or contract management.

  • General midstream oil and gas industry, project management, and construction experience will be given additional consideration.

    This position will be based out of either the San Antonio, TX, Denver, CO, Canonsburg, PA, or Findlay, OH offices. Travel may be up to 15% at peak times. Other MPC locations may be considered. *

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Professional Level 1 (P1)• Bachelor’s degree.• Entry level experience as a supply chain professional in capacities such as, strategic sourcing, supply chain management, commercial advisory, contract administration, contract development, or contract management.Professional Level 2 (P2)• Bachelor’s degree.• 4 or more years of related experience as a supply chain professional in capacities such as, strategic sourcing, supply chain management, commercial advisory, contract administration, contract development, or contract management.Professional Level 3 (P3)• Bachelor’s degree.
